Internship Positions:
Development Intern
Duties may include:
-Managing data for fundraising campaigns: data entry, track gifts, produce acknowledgements;

-Assisting with all direct mailings as needed;

-Entering and updating information in Donor Perfect Online donor database;

-Researching potential grant making organizations and assisingt in grant submission process;

-Soliciting silent auction items from local businesses for annual fundraising events;

-Attending events and manning the information table to encourage new member sign-up;

-Ensuring an accurate and current donor database via address corrections and donor preferences;

-Assisting staff with donor information for special events, program initiatives, or mailings;

-Preparing prospective donor research and profiles;

-Utilizing script and call lists to re-enroll lapsed members of the organization;

-Assisting with other fundraising programs as needed; and

-Performing other tasks as assigned.
 

Qualifications:
NARAL Pro-Choice Texas seeks energetic and enthusiastic individuals with a desire to learn more about the non-profit world, the politics of reproductive health in Texas, and the importance of working as a team. Development interns are usually outgoing individuals with a desire to jump in with both feet, tackle new challenges, and be comfortable switching gears at a moment’s notice. You will ultimately build a diverse and well-rounded resume which will serve you well as you enter into the job market.
 

Location:
NARAL Pro-Choice Texas’ only statewide office is located in Austin. However, we are interested in discussing the possibility of a long-distance internship if you live in a different part of Texas and want to work on fundraising in your region.

Healthy Women, Healthy Families Program Intern
Duties may include:

  • Assisting with the Healthy Women, Healthy Families project, a statewide coalition working to collect surveys and personal stories from Texas women from diverse communities regarding healthcare challenges they have faced;
  • Helping to serve as a central contact for participating organizations across the state;
  • Conducting outreach to various communities through phone calls, emails, in-person meetings, community meetings, public education events, festivals, and focus groups;
  • Compiling completed stories and health-priority surveys and helping to prepare analysis for media and community outreach;
  • Drafting reports, articles, letters to the editor, and/or press releases;
  • Researching potential coalition partner organizations and inviting them to join the coalition;
  • Helping to plan and implement various community events in conjunction with this project;
  • Developing print and online materials to spread the word about the project;
  • Publicizing the project through Texas-based blogs, message boards, and other online forums.
Qualifications:
NARAL Pro-Choice Texas seeks energetic and enthusiastic individuals with a strong commitment to reproductive and social justice, who are interested in building cross-issue relationships. Experience working and organizing with diverse communities, particularly oppressed/marginalized communities (including youth, people of color, LGBT/queer, people with disabilities, poor people, immigrants) a plus. Good communication skills, commitment to ending healthcare inequities, and/or fluency in Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, or other languages spoken by large populations in Texas is also helpful.

Public Affairs Intern

Internship Description:                                         

  • Assist with NPCT public interest and research campaigns;
  • Make contact with members of the media regarding NPCT campaigns;
  • Draft email alerts, press releases, and other promotional materials;
  • Organize NPCT supporters around legislative issues;
  • Help out with tabling at festivals and other outreach events;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
NARAL Pro-Choice Texas seeks individuals with a strong commitment to reproductive rights who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Intern must be detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to work on several tasks concurrently. Ideal candidates should possess strong communication skills, a sense of humor, and the ability to work in a team environment.

Reproductive Access Intern
This internship is a collaboration between The Lilith Fund and NARAL Pro-Choice Texas.
 
Duties may include:
 
  • Undergoing Lilith Fund hotline training and covering two regular hotline shifts per semester (approximately 1-3 hours per week);
  • Attending monthly Lilith Fund board meetings;
  • Coordinating outreach to Travis County clinics and social service organizations;
  • Conducting research of funding programs;
  • Obtaining and summarizing relevant data and statistics;
  • Surveying Travis County women to collect supplementary information and/or personal anecdotes;
  • Creating documents with recommendations to improve Travis County women’s access to abortion services;
  • Various administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
The Lilith Fund and NARAL Pro-Choice Texas seek energetic and enthusiastic individuals with a strong commitment to abortion rights and reproductive and social justice.  Strong communication skills, research experience, and the ability to work independently a plus.  The internship may also be conducted for class credit or in partnership with a work-study program, if applicable.
