Monica's story

Modified: 04/25/2011

When I was 18, a senior in high school, I was raped. By one of my so-called friends, and I got pregnant. The jerk laughed about it, and his girlfriend accused me of trying to wreck their relationship. My thought was "Look, honey, if your boyfriend is out having sex with unwilling partners, you have other issues to deal with."

I couldn't have an abortion fast enough, my mom took me to Westside Clinic in Fort Worth, and my freaking health teacher at my high school was one of the protesters that turned out that day. What luck. He was holding a giant metal bowl with broken up plastic baby doll parts with raw liver thrown in.

When I went in for the procedure, the doctor told me to "relax your legs, like you did when when got pregnant." Assuming that women who get unintentionally pregnant are whores. That experience has seriously altered my view of people, and makes me cry everytime I think about it.
