NARAL Pro-Choice Texas Appoints New Executive Director

Posted: 03/07/2007

NARAL Pro-Choice Texas (NPCT), announced today the appointment of its new Executive Director.   Ms. Sara S. Cleveland was selected following an extensive and thorough executive search process.  NPCT is an affiliate of the national organization committed to recruiting, developing, and sustaining a constituency that uses the political process to promote public health policies that guarantee every woman access to the full range of reproductive healthcare.

"We were looking for someone with great energy who would bring to the position a strong strategic vision," said the organization’s Search Committee Leader, Rachel Howell. "Sara has just this combination. Her wealth of development experience, track record of management success and commitment to the cause will be valued assets in our ongoing efforts to protect women’s rights."

Cleveland joins NPCT with a background in human resource development, training, and nonprofit fundraising. Her diversified career portfolio includes work with organizations ranging from General Motors to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, where she has served in various developmental capacities over the past five years.  Sara holds a B.S. in Psychology and an M.S. in Educational Human Resource Development from Texas A&M University.

"I was drawn to NARAL because of their commitment to women, strong community involvement and dedication, and for their recent momentum in advocacy and programmatic areas," said Cleveland. "The mission, the philosophy and the values of the organization are an inspiration and entirely compatible with my personal and professional orientation."

"I am very gratified at having been selected as the organization's next Executive Director from a pool of highly qualified candidates," adds Cleveland. "I look forward to working with our Board of Directors, our talented staff and communities across the State to maximize this positive momentum."
