Healthy Women, Healthy Families Coalition Invites Austin Families to Public Forum on Women’s Health
Forum will bring together community members, health services, advocacy organizations to work on improving Austin women’s access to health care

AUSTIN, TX – On Tuesday, December 2 from 6-8pm, the Healthy Women, Healthy Families coalition will hold a free public forum on women’s health at Faith Presbyterian Church at 1314 East Oltorf Street.  The coalition, made up of over 20 organizations from across the state, is conducting an ongoing survey of Texas women from diverse communities throughout Texas in order to identify their healthcare needs and priorities.

The forum will feature a sneak preview of the initial survey results, resources from local health and family services, ways to get involved in local actions to improve the health of Central Texas women and families, a space to share personal stories, and a presentation by Austin City Council Member Sheryl Cole.  Attendees are invited to bring their families; refreshments and children’s activities will be provided.

Co-sponsors of the forum include ADAPT, allgo, Any Baby Can, Austin Women’s Health Center, El Buen Samaritano, Jane’s Due Process, NARAL Pro-Choice Texas Foundation, Planned Parenthood of the Texas Capital Region, SafePlace, Transgender Education Network of Texas, and Women’s Health and Family Planning Association of Texas.

For more information on the Healthy Women, Healthy Families project and survey, please call Katie Mahoney, project coordinator, at (512) 462-1661 or visit www.HealthyWomenHealthyFamilies.org.
